• Multi-home buildings will benefit from a new collaboration that unites Samsung C&T and ABB smart home systems into a single user interface

The partnership will enable both parties to explore new opportunities at the property management level of commercial buildings and residential buildings, particularly in automation, energy management and service systems

To improve the livability and energy efficiency of large residential, commercial and multi-residential buildings, ABB Smart Buildings has signed a new global agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering&Construction Group. The two companies will work together to create integrated integrated building automation, reliable energy distribution and energy management solutions. ABB Smart Building previously signed a separate global agreement with Samsung Electronics in April 2022 to advance smart building technologies in the residential category by integrating ABB-free@home® and Samsung SmartThings.

The new global agreement marks the development of integrated building solutions, such as Samsung C&T's Homeniq Smart Home platform, ABB-free@home® system and ABB i-bus®KNX, that can be integrated on the same property management tool to further meet the needs of home and building services. In addition, this integrated approach allows users to choose between the Homeniq app, ABB-free@home® and ABB panels, allowing users to connect Samsung C&T and ABB Smart Home devices through a single interface. The partnership addresses households' growing demand for integrated, easy-to-use and flexible products and solutions, and is another milestone in better energy management, lower energy costs and improved quality of life.

In addition, the new capability to manage and monitor all energy systems within the property is also expected to reduce connection expenses by reducing power spikes and accelerate the return on investment of PV equipment.

Welcoming the new partner, Lucy Han, Product Group Leader, Global Building and Home Automation Solutions, ABB Smart Buildings, said, "We are delighted to have entered into this exciting new agreement with Samsung C&T, which will be a significant step forward in our expansion of seamlessly integrated and integrated smart building technologies and services. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to working with our partners to address global energy efficiency challenges.

We have always been committed to open technology and industry interoperability standards, and this agreement will extend our commercial and large residential product portfolio to the property management level."

Hyejung Helen Cho, Head of Samsung C&T's Living Solutions Division, added, "Construction companies, real estate developers and operators will also benefit from the convenience of one-stop integrated services for Samsung C&T devices and ABB smart home control devices. "Over time, the range of Samsung C&T platforms will support the continuous improvement of developers' technology."

Buildings account for 40 percent of global energy consumption1 and 30 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions2, and rapid advances in technology are expected to significantly reduce these numbers. The agreement between ABB Smart Buildings and Samsung C&T will drive more joint innovation initiatives, particularly partnerships on the new property management platform. Following an initial proof of concept developed in South Korea earlier this year, the project is now progressing further in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
