Beijing, China, December 20, 2018 - Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation in Energy efficiency management and automation, today announced a new collaboration with Endeavour Energy. Schneider Electric will provide safe, efficient and reliable management of Endeavour Energy's distribution network through its advanced distribution management system, EcoStruxure ADMS.
Many distribution companies in Australia have been facing challenges such as improving reliability, reducing carbon emissions, absorbing distributed renewable generation and storage, increasingly harsh weather conditions, frequent network outages and aging infrastructure. To address these issues, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure ADMS provides Endeavour Energy with lean core grid management capabilities to improve outage response times, optimize grid operations, and manage the growing number of distributed energy sources.
Endeavour Energy Chief Information Officer Andrew Bettenay said: "Our overarching goal is to provide secure, stable and affordable electricity to the more than 2.4 million people living in Sydney's West End, Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and South Coast regions. "We chose Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure ADMS because its world-class, high-quality smart grid control system can help us reduce power losses, save grid operating costs and shorten outages, while improving grid security and stability for our current and future customers."
Gareth O 'Reilly, General Manager, Pacific, Schneider Electric, said: "Our goal is to help our customers solve the triple dilemma of energy: accessible, sustainable and reliable electricity supply. We are very pleased to be working with Endeavour Energy to provide future-proof protection for its distribution network and to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its power supply services to meet the needs of current and future customers."
Simon Mouat, Vice President of Energy at Schneider Electric, said: "The new ADMS project will enable the digital transformation of Australia's power grid. By merging Endeavour Energy's OT and IT environments, EcoStruxure ADMS is able to deliver an all-in-one product that truly digitise the power system. EcoStruxure ADMS will introduce mobile switching as part of a suite of on-site mobility tools and services to enhance reliability through distribution automation and provide a management approach for future embedded power generation and emerging technologies."

Endeavour Energy's distribution network needs to meet the rapidly increasing demand for electricity. In the next 30 years, the two priority development areas of northwest and southwest Sydney will add 500,000 new grid customers, equivalent to the size of Wollongong or Canberra. As the global electrification process accelerates, securing the electricity supply in these regions will be related to the ability to obtain, supply and distribute electricity to residents and businesses.
Andrew Bettenay, Endeavour's Chief Information Officer, concluded: "This partnership is part of our global technology plan, which aims to drive Endeavour Energy to become Australia's premier power grid company over the next five years."
EcoStruxure ADMS is an advanced smart grid management system that has been adopted by 75 power companies serving 70 million customers worldwide, including major Australian power distribution companies. Gartner recognized Schneider Electric as a market leader in its 2017ADMS Magic Quadrant report, earning top scores for three application cases: "Improving outage response," "Optimizing grid operation," and "Managing distributed energy impact."
