Shanghai, China, March 24, 2021 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the launch of a new M.ONIC ® Low and medium pressure ultrasonic gas flow meter designed to improve the measurement accuracy and reliability of urban gas and reduce the full life cycle cost of natural gas flow meters for the global urban gas industry.
The new M.ONIC ® ultrasonic gas flow meter uses leading gas measurement technology and integrates temperature and pressure sensors as well as volume correctors. It is designed for urban gas metering applications that require high accuracy and reliability. It is equipped with the Electronic Volume Correction function (EVC), which can convert the working condition volume flow measured by the flow meter into the standard condition volume flow rate for billing.
"In addition to high measurement accuracy and reliability, the M.ONIC ® integrated compact design allows for flexible installation in the field, and its battery-powered configuration helps reduce the flow meter's power consumption and extend its service life." "M.onic ® will help customers reduce product usage and maintenance costs and continuously improve the operations of City Gas companies," said Chen Yan, vice president and general manager of Honeywell's Process Control Group in China.

With multiple input/output interfaces, the M.ONIC ® can be easily connected to gas company automation systems. The product has a wide flow measurement range and high overall accuracy, and can be widely and flexibly applied to various urban gas sites. With an ultra-high range ratio of up to 1:160, the M.ONIC ® sets a new benchmark for Honeywell's ultrasonic gas flowmeter product line. M.onic ® can also measure accurately at gas flows as low as Qmin=1m3/h, and its excellent small flow precision measurement can be used in other applications such as gas leak assessment and snatch gas inspection.
The channel layout of M.Sonic® uses specific wide-beam transducers with patented technology to cover the flow measurement at a large Angle, thus ensuring the efficiency of signal transmission. The transducer has excellent resistance to pollution and corrosion and can be adapted to different field application environments.
Through its highly sensitive circuit design, ultra-high sampling frequency, and patented mathematical model, M. Sonic® responds to flow changes in real-world applications, increasing metering accuracy and effectively reducing throughput.
In recent years, China's natural gas consumption has continued to grow. According to the 2019 China Natural Gas Development Report jointly released by the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the National Energy Administration of China, the Institute of Resources and Environmental Policy of the Development Research Center of The State Council, and the Strategic Research Center of Oil and Gas Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources, China's natural gas consumption is expected to maintain a growth trend until 2050. The Chinese government is increasing the share of natural gas in the domestic energy mix and fuel consumption.
