At the NI Connect 2024 conference for customers, partners and industry leaders, Emerson Test & Measurement Business Group (formerly NI) reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in an integrated testing approach, announced major updates to its core software products, including NI LabVIEW™, and announced its vision for Intelligent Testing. Emerson presented its latest advancements in NI hardware and software designed to increase the efficiency of engineers, allowing them to spend more time exploring fundamental problems in their areas of expertise and effectively collaborating across their business areas.
Ritu Favre, president of Emerson's Test & Measurement Business Group, said: "Our software-centric, modular approach to hardware testing is our unique value proposition and the differentiated value our customers get from NI products and technologies. We are excited to share NI's vision of harnessing the power of AI in the field of test and measurement and to continue our commitment to industry-leading NI products." Through our innovative, secure and expert-led approach, we will revolutionize intelligent testing across the industry."
To continuously improve NI's technology and software roadmap, Emerson is committed to providing strong support for the development of core NI branded products such as LabVIEW and TestStand™, and to building comprehensive, connected workflows using complementary products in the NI LabVIEW+™ suite.
New NI product advancements announced at this year's NI Connect include:
01 NI LabVIEW
The latest version of NI LabVIEW focuses on collaborative engineering workflows, with integrated new capabilities including variance and merge enhancements, version management, and on-call. NET Core assembly (.NET 8) support.
NI experts demonstrated how AI can be used in development tools such as LabVIEW to improve user productivity. Features include automated code description and documentation, which are essential for engineers to inherit common use cases of code whose operations are unclear. In addition, the NI team is experimenting with AI technology in LabVIEW and gathering registration information for a broader program that is coming soon.
02 NI LabVIEW "Community Edition"
To expand on these investments, the company announced that NI LabVIEW Community Edition, originally launched in 2019, is now free to students. Parts of NI LabVIEW, starting with the icon editor, will also be open sourced to drive broader community collaboration.
03 NI InstrumentStudio Professional Edition
The company announced that NI InstrumentStudio™ Professional Edition will be available in July of this year and will extend the capabilities of the PXI companion software InstrumentStudio to cover most aspects of the e-verification workflow, including automation and measurement customization. InstrumentStudio Professional is designed to work with LabVIEW and TestStand and will automatically be added to LabVIEW+ suite licenseholders, increasing the value they can receive.
