Advanced function
With their superior performance, functionality and flexibility, GE Fanuc's 90-70 series PLCS provide a comprehensive solution to meet the most demanding application requirements. With our CPU family of cpus, the 90-70 series gives you more for your automation - more computing power, more application memory, and more communication and redundancy. The 90-70 series is equipped with a variety of isolated and high-density VME analog I/O modules to provide greater flexibility for a variety of applications.

The IC697BEM731 is a GE series 90-70 bus controller module. This module is mainly used to connect with other modules and perform I/O scanning and data transfer to the CPU, initiate communication with the CPU, alarm reporting and link other devices such as PCIM. The module has one (1) channel for communication with remote modules, one (1) handheld monitor port, each channel supporting up to thirty (30) drops, redundant blocks, and handheld monitors.

The IC697BEM731 has one (1) channel for connecting to a device located on the same bus, and one (1) Handheld monitor (HHM) port for downloading the configuration to the module using the MS DOS or Windows programming software Configurator feature. When the IC697BEM731 was delivered, it did not provide a defined bus address. The configuration software sets the default address to 153.6 Kbaud standard address and the bus address to 31. This default address can be modified by downloading the valid configuration to the CPU. When configured as 2000 Kbaud (standard), the maximum allowable distance of the communication bus is 153.6 feet; 3500 feet when configured at 153.6 KBaud (extended); 4,500 feet at 76.8 KBaud configuration and 7,500 feet at 38.4 KBaud configuration. All devices on the same bus or network must be configured with the same baud rate, otherwise communication may not be established or may be unstable.
