In 2018, the organizing committee of the iot Breakthrough Award received more than 3,500 nominations, which recognizes innovators, leaders, and visionaries in multiple iot fields, including industry, smart city technology, and the connected home, from around the world. The jury is made up of iot professionals and experts, including journalists, analysts and professionals from top startups and Fortune 100 companies with extensive hands-on experience in the iot market.

With the Industrial Internet of Things, industrial companies have unprecedented potential for real-time data collection. However, converting this data into actionable information and significantly improving operational performance is a more complex process. To help customers seamlessly implement industrial iot technologies, Emerson pioneered the Plantweb™ digital ecosystem. The system is a scalable portfolio of technologies, software and services that improve productivity, reliability, safety and energy management performance.

Lal Karsanbhai, Executive president, Emerson Automation Solutions Business, said: "As IIoT technologies continue to evolve, customers are increasingly relying on us to help them evaluate and implement digital technologies that demonstrate business performance and value. Our goal is to provide our customers with deep industry expertise and automation technology to help them leverage these capabilities and optimize plant performance."
A recent Emerson survey of industry leaders responsible for digital transformation initiatives revealed that only 20% of respondents had both a digital transformation vision and a clear, actionable roadmap for implementation. The lack of a practical roadmap was cited as the number one barrier to digital transformation projects.

To help customers deliver on the promise of digital transformation, Emerson's Plantweb digital ecosystem takes a structured, scalable approach that helps organizations focus on priority areas and develop actionable roadmaps based on business needs and readiness. Ultimately, these Plantweb solutions help customers achieve benchmarking performance: optimized production, improved reliability, enhanced safety, and reduced energy consumption.

James Johnson, Managing Director of the iot Breakthrough Awards, said: "It is clear that digitalisation is revolutionising the entire market landscape, and the level of iot innovation continues to deliver impressive results for manufacturing, enterprise and industrial customers around the world. In the new era of Industry 4.0, it is becoming increasingly difficult for industrial iot vendors to stand out in a highly competitive market, and Emerson has demonstrated a high level of innovation and success in the Industrial iot market, winning the title of 'Industrial iot Company of the Year' for two consecutive years. Congratulations to the Emerson team for winning the 2019 iot Breakthrough Award and being recognized by the industry."
