Milwaukee, Dec. 10, 2015 - As devices become increasingly connected, preventive maintenance of electrical and automated control equipment is often manual and time-consuming. To improve this situation, Rockwell Automation has introduced a new diagnostic reliability service. With this service, manufacturers and industrial producers can simplify maintenance strategies for mission-critical integrated equipment production lines.

The solution deploys a technology layer covering equipment and installations at each plant to monitor and analyze, and establish a continuous improvement approach to maintain reliability and reduce operational risk. As part of this service, Rockwell Automation domain service experts also closely track equipment performance in order to make recommendations to improve the reliability of production equipment.

"Our customers have access to a lot of asset data, but they often struggle to turn it into useful operational intelligence." Ryan Williams, product manager for Rockwell Automation, said, "In the past, companies needed to send maintenance personnel to the field to check the status of the field equipment and then develop corrective actions. Now, they can turn maintenance data into asset intelligence with diagnostic reliability services. This helps build a better connected enterprise that leverages connected data systems and generates actionable information. Companies can better prioritize maintenance and production and get more done with less."

The solution automatically captures identity and health data for all connected devices in the production control network, and then models this data through asset management information to trigger events and send alerts to preventive maintenance personnel. With this service, Rockwell Automation asset reliability experts can help customers intelligentize critical equipment, enabling them to make informed maintenance decisions based on actual data and increase productivity.
A major oil and gas company used a diagnostic reliability solution to centrally gather information and monitor hundreds of critical control assets in a mountain in California. To implement an enterprise-level network security strategy, the company also needed to stock all field equipment in the process control network. With the help of automated identification and monitoring solutions, the company's California operations implemented a new corporate strategy that reduced the costs associated with field service through preventive maintenance and increased daily oil production.

With integrated automated device identification and tracking, other customers using diagnostic reliability services can reduce manual data acquisition time by around 70%.

Diagnostic reliability services are suitable for all manufacturers, with a focus on industries such as oil and gas, mining metals and cement, automotive tires and rubber, and consumer packaged goods.
