In 2023, Chint New Energy released a sustainable development strategy, announcing that the full value chain will be carbon neutral by 2050. At the same time, the company set up an independent sustainable development department as the management organization, which is responsible for the three special working groups of environmental governance, social responsibility and corporate governance, and coordinates, plans, implements and supervises various activities and projects related to ESG, so as to continuously improve the sustainable development capability of the company.
In the first year of the systematic implementation of the sustainable development strategy, Chint New Energy achieved its own operational carbon emission intensity, water consumption intensity and energy intensity "three drops"; Through extensive communication with customers, employees, partners and other stakeholders, the industry chain partners are driven to save energy and reduce emissions, and the core supplier ISO 14001 certification accounts for more than 80%, leading the green development of the industry. In 2023, Chint's new energy sustainable development strategy was released, including greenhouse gas emission targets for 2028 and 2035. In terms of climate change mitigation and adaptation, relying on the existing EHS management system and internal environmental management system, through a series of greenhouse gas emission reduction actions such as energy conservation and emission reduction, the use of clean energy and environmentally friendly packaging, Chint New Energy reduced its annual carbon emission intensity by 7.12% year-on-year, saved 2,708.47 tons of standard coal and 15.768,400 KWH of electricity in the year. Water saving of 69,000 cubic meters, energy intensity decreased by 34.18%, water intensity decreased by 25.43%, non-hazardous waste recovery rate increased by 14.65%, to achieve zero waste landfill.
In terms of low-carbon factory construction, Chint New Energy actively promotes the digitization and intelligent transformation of factories, promotes the transformation and upgrading of product quality and green manufacturing with the digital management of the whole life cycle, and achieves the full coverage of ISO 9001:2015 system certification.
It is worth mentioning that last year, Chint New can build the first zero carbon factory - Yancheng zero carbon factory, the factory reduced a total of 42,221.37 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, environmental benefits are significant. In March this year, Chint New Energy's second zero carbon plant Jiuquan Base zero carbon plant launch meeting was officially held, is expected to be completed by the end of July. In the future, Chint New Energy plans to complete the certification of eight zero-carbon plants by 2028.
