The analog input module, known as the 1756-IR12 module, was designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation and is designed for general-purpose applications with a variety of features to meet different requirements. The module has notch filter, different module input range, digital filter, underrange/overrange detection function, sensor offset, line break detection and different sensor types. The 1756-IR12 module provides different input ranges for different sensor types and automatically selects the last range sensor configuration used. The unit is part of the Bulletin 1756/ControlLogix product family, which offers several other input modules with specifications designed to meet the needs of different applications in industrial environments.

The 1756-IR12 analog input module supports 3-wire RTD connections and has 12 analog non-isolated channels. The module has 24-bit resolution and status LED display. The module offers the following input/output ranges: 1 to 500, 2 to 1000, 4 to 2000, and 8 to 4000 ohms. The 1756-IR12 module has a current consumption of 200 mah at 5.1 volts and 70 mah at 24 volts. The component dissipates up to 2.7 watts of power and 9.2 BTU of heat per hour. The module has overvoltage protection up to +/ -30 V DC and has a channel bandwidth depending on the notch filter configuration. The 1756-IR12 input module has a continuous sunshine voltage of 250 volts and an enhanced insulation type.
