Allen-Bradley 1756-IR6I is a temperature measurement simulation module. This is an analog module for resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors.

The 1756-IR6I module provides two data formats, integer mode and floating-point mode. When selecting integer mode, integrated features include multiple input ranges, notch filters, and real-time sampling. The floating mode includes all of these features and adds temperature linearization, process alarm, rate alarm, and digital filtering. It also has selectable temperature units, such as degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. The module has four (4) possible input ranges, including 1 to 487 m? , 2 to 1000 m? ; 4 to 2000 m? ; , and 8 to 4000 m? ; . These ranges represent the minimum and maximum signals that the module can detect. It has six (6) independently isolated RTD inputs and a resolution of 16 bits. Actual resolution includes 7.7 m? bit (1-487 ohm); 2-1000 ohms are 15 m/bit, 4-2000 ohms are 30 m/bit, 8-4020 ohms are 60 m/bit. Module notch filter line noise filtering. Make sure to select a filter that closely matches the expected noise frequency of the application. Digital filters smooth the data by eliminating noise transients on each input channel.

The 1756-IR6I's real-time sampling feature allows the module to multicast the data it collects from scanning all of its input channels. To enable multicast, configure the real-time sampling (RTS) period and the requested Packet Interval (RPI) period.

The module is also embedded with protection features such as underrange/overrange detection, the function of the module is to monitor whether the input signal exceeds the limit set by the input range. Process alerts work similarly, but process limits are set manually by the user. The integrated rate alarm function allows the module to detect rapid increases or decreases within a defined short period of time. Rate alarms are only available in applications that use floating point. Line break detection provides loop wiring integrity. It can detect whether RTB or wires in the module have been disconnected.

Small offset errors in the 10 ohms copper RTD can be compensated by the module's 10 ohms offset function. You can also configure sensor types for each channel in the module. This linearizes the analog signal to a temperature value.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-IR6I is a ControlLogix module designed to receive signals from resistance temperature detectors (RTD). This module belongs to the analog input category and is particularly used for temperature measurement applications.
