The Allen-Bradley 1756-L73 is a ControlLogix processor module in the Logix 5570 product category. It is a programmable automation controller (PAC) that is compatible for controlling large applications in factory or process automation applications. It supports simplex configuration and high availability (redundant) controller configuration to improve system availability.
The 1756-L73 is capable of connecting 128,000 input and output signals and 4,000 analog input and output signals. It can be either a local I/O configuration, where the I/O module is installed in the same chassis where the controller is installed, or a distributed I/O topology, where the extended I/O is installed away from the processor and I/O is provided via an extended communication bus. The controller supports Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Synchlink, and traditional communication protocols such as Data Highway Plus (DH+), Remote I/O (RIO), and third-party protocols. It can also be configured to communicate with gateways and protocol converters. Again, the controller is compatible with any Allen-Bradley included partner ControlLogix module.
The controller also has integrated motion capabilities as it supports SERCOS interfaces, analog motion sensors, and Ethernet I/P motion control. When programming the controller, the applicable programming languages include relay ladder, structured text, function block diagram and sequential function diagram.
The controller is capable of handling 32 controller tasks, each with 100 programs, while the event task accepts all event triggers. The controller comes with 8MB of user memory and 0.98MB of I/O memory. It is also equipped with energy storage technology that does not require the use of batteries to retain the contents of volatile memory.
The 1756-L73 uses up to 8 MB of user memory and 0.98 MB of input/output memory. In addition, it has a total of 128,000 digital I/ OS and 4,000 analog I/ OS. The required current consumption is 5 mA at 1.2V DC and 800 mA at 5.1V DC. The 1756-L73 has a power consumption of 2.5 W and a heat dissipation of 8.5 BTU/ hour. The isolation voltage is continuous at 30 V, basically insulated, and tested at 500V AC for 60 seconds. With USB 2.0, it can reach 12 Mbps at full speed. It weighs only about 0.25 kg, has a 1 slot width and an open housing.
The module is chassis based on any slot in the 1756 chassis series. The power requirements for the 1756-L73 controller are the standard 1756 power supply. Its wiring category is 3 USB ports. The 1756-L73 controller operates at 0-60 degrees. Celsius, its non-operating temperature is -40-85°. Degrees Celsius. It can operate at a maximum ambient temperature of 60°. Degrees Celsius, 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity. Its working vibration is 10-500 Hz and 2 g, its working shock is 30 g working shock, and its non-working shock is 50 g. When the SD card is installed, it can reach 45 grams.
