The Allen-Bradley 1794-OW8 is a relay output module that belongs to the Flex I/O product family. The module mainly has eight (8) isolated normally open (N.O.) electromechanical relays with rated voltage of 250V AC, 2 A, 50/60Hz for resistive loads; 120/240V AC, 50/60Hz, 1800V A on, 180V A off; 5... 30V DC, 2 A, resistive;

The 1794-OW8 is used with the 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TBN, and 1794-TBNF terminal base units. If using a 1794-TBNF, use a 3.0 amp, 250VAC slow fuse or Allen-Bradley's recommended Littelfuse with part number 239003. The module has a 1.0 mA turn-off leakage current through the buffer circuit and a minimum contact load rating of 100 μA @ 100 mV DC. Its lead value is R150, 5... 30V DC, 28V A, less than 28V DC should not exceed 1 A.

The 1794-OW8 is compatible with any Flex I/O communication adapter as well as FlexBus controllers. The current consumption of the module is 5V DC, 35 mA, and the supply voltage rating is 24V DC, 125 mA. The maximum signal delay of the two signal conversion of the relay output channel is 10 ms, the initial contact resistance is 30 mΩ, the switching frequency is once every 3 s, the switching frequency under rated load is 0.3Hz, and the average runout time of the contact is 1.2 ms. In addition, the expected contact life of each output contact is 100,000 operations with a minimum @ rated load.

The 1794-OW8 is equipped with eight (8) yellow status indicators, one for each channel, and the key switch position is 9 when installed to the terminal base.

The power terminals of the 1794-OW8 use only +24 volts DC power because a change in the switching time of the output relays may cause one of the relays to switch the total load current instantaneously. The entire module measures 1.8 x 3.7 x 2.1 inches. It is compatible with multiple terminal base units, namely 1794-TB3, 1794-TB2, 1794-TBN, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TB3K, 1794-TBNF, 1794-TBNKF, and 1794-TB3SK. It also has a mechanical life of 100,000 rated load operations. The 1794-OW8's resistance relay output current ratings are 2 amps at 5 to 30 V DC, 0.22 amps at 125 V DC, and 2 amps at 125 V DC and 250 V DC. The module also has a continuous isolation voltage of 250 volts for relays to another relay, backplane and power supply, and a continuous isolation voltage of 50 volts for powering the backplane. The module has an external DC supply voltage range of 19.2 to 31.2V DC, including 5% AC ripple and a nominal external DC supply current of 125 mA. At 240 V AC, the maximum off state leakage current through the buffer is 1 mA. The 1794-OW8 ™ has an initial contact resistance of 30 MΩ and a minimum contact load of 100 μA (100 mV DC). It also has a maximum power consumption of 5.5 watts and a maximum heat dissipation of 18.8 BTU/ hour, both at 31.2 volts DC. The maximum output delay time for the OFF to ON and ON to OFF states is 10 milliseconds.
