The 18745-04 is a Proximitor sensor developed by Bently Nevada. It is part of the Bently Nevada 7200 5mm / 8mm family of proximity sensor systems. This is an older version of the 18745-04 and only works with 5mm 7200 probes.
18745-04 Function Description
A proximity sensor is a non-contact sensor that detects the presence of an object (also known as a "target") when it enters the area of the sensor.
The system is a non-contact voltage gap sensor system that measures the static and dynamic distance between the probe tip and the object being observed. Wide applicability in any situation requires accurate non-contact displacement measurement.
However, the most common application is shaft position and vibration measurement for rotating and reciprocating machinery. They are suitable for almost any machine type, including gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, centrifuges, electric motors and generators. The system has a linear measuring range of 80 mil (2mm) and is API 670 compliant.
The system includes a probe with integrated coaxial cable, extension cable and Proximitor. All 7200 proximity sensor systems are compatible with 3300 and 9000 monitoring systems.
Install
Install Proximitor sensors in a position that meets their environmental requirements. Consider local electrical codes and the presence of hazardous or explosive gases at the installation site.
These probes use fluctuations in the electromagnetic field generated by the probe to determine the position of the bearing shaft with respect to the bearing housing and the dynamic vibration of the rotating shaft. The validity of the data measured by the monitoring system is greatly affected by the correct installation of the probe.
