Panel mount: This rack format is attached to the rectangular cutout of the panel and secured to the panel by clamps that come with the rack. The I/O modules and wiring connections are accessible from the rear of the rack.
The 3500 rack is mounted on a 19-inch EIA rail using this rack form. The I/O modules and wiring connections are accessible from the rear of the rack.
This rack format mounts the rack on a wall or panel when the back of the rack cannot be reached. I/O modules and wiring connections can be reached from the front of the rack. This format does not work with 3500/05 mini racks.
The leftmost rack position must accommodate the power supply and rack interface modules. Any combination of modules can be used for the remaining 14 rack locations (including the Mini 7 rack rack locations).
