The 3500 Transient Data Interface (TDI) is the interface between the 3500 monitoring System and GE System 1* machine management software. TDI combines the capabilities of 3500/20 rack Interface Module (RIM) with the data collection capabilities of communication processors such as TDXnet.
The TDI runs in a RIM slot in the 3500 rack with M-series monitors (3500/40M, 3500/42m, etc.) to continuously collect steady-state and transient waveform data and pass this data to the host software over an Ethernet link. See the "Compatibility" section at the end of this document. Static data capture is standard for TDI, but enabling disks with an optional channel will allow TDI to capture dynamic or transient data. Compared to previous communication processors, the TDI improves on several aspects and integrates communication processor capabilities in 3,500 racks.
The TDI module combines the capabilities of a 3500/20 rack interface module (RIM) with the data collection capabilities of a communications processor such as TDXnet. It is located in a slot adjacent to the power supply of the 3500 rack and is connected to M-series monitors such as 3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc., to continuously collect steady-state and transient dynamic (waveform) data. The collected data is passed over the Ethernet link to the host software, which is used to analyze the operating status of the mechanical equipment and diagnose potential problems.
