The CPU board contains the microprocessor and RAM memory, real-time clock, LED indicator, INIT button, and CompactFlash interface.
The baseplate of the PM857 controller has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) and two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4) for connecting to the control network. One of the serial ports (COM3) is the RS-232C port with the modem control signal, while the other port (COM4) is isolated and used to connect to the configuration tool. The controller supports CPU redundancy for higher availability (CPU, CEX bus, communication interface, and S800 I/O).
High integrity functionality is achieved by adding the SM812 module and SIL certification software. In this way, non-critical control schemes can be upgraded to SIL certification schemes by adding a plug-in SM81x module and a range of appropriate software. The AC 800M High-Integrity also offers an IEC 61508 and TUV certified control environment that combines security and critical business process control in a single controller unit without sacrificing safety integrity.
The PM857 can handle up to 128 I/O signals. Passed SIL3 certification. This parameter must be configured according to the security manual.
